In December of 2010, Iowa State University researchers verified that the new Great Plains Magnetostrictive transducer completed and exceeded all milestones!
Great Plains Diesel Technologies worked with LeAnn Faidley, an assistant professor of mechanical engineering at Iowa State University, and
IPRT Company Assistance to help prove the viability of its technology to both inventors and customers. The testing was done with a prototype transducer to simulate realistic operating conditions. The results demonstrated the technology has tremendous promise for programmable fuel injection and is ideally suited to the high pressures and loads seen on a diesel engine.
Dr. Faidley published
SAE Paper 2011-01-0381 based upon the results of the testing work. The paper was then presented at the annual SAE World Conference in Detroit, MI in April 2011. The video you see below was produced by Iowa State University and features the test of the transducer unit.
